We are thrilled to announce that Soccer Assist client Luke Watson-Read has secured his place and committed to the Lassen Community College. Hailing from Cornwall, the former Newquay and St Agnes will be joining Lassen Community College Cougars men’s soccer roster this fall.

Luke tells us that he has been playing soccer from a young age, he had many successful years of youth football collecting various accolades, winning cups and titles, throughout the Cornwall area. Luke’s athletic achievements include being awarded captaincy at every club he’s been to within the first season and he was Invited to play and train with two top division Norwegian teams for pre-season at 16.

When describing his playing style Luke states ‘I’m a Defensive/ centre midfielder whose primary focus is to control and dictate the game by winning the ball back and finding teammates in behind defences through a range of passing. I can also join in with attacks – especially taking set pieces but will always be disciplined enough to know when I should and shouldn’t go forward.’

Lassen Cougars men’s soccer head coach Imaan M Kerchgani says ‘his left foot has a lot of ability and his work rate will help with our competitive schedule.’

Soccer Assist’s Director, Junior,  believes Luke will grasp the scholarship opportunity with both hands. Luke will enjoy his experience in the U.S I’m sure! He has been hands-on with the process and keen to do well’ he says. Junior also adds that Luke is a ‘composed midfielder’ with a playing style similar to Manchester United’s Daley Blind. Soccer Assist cannot wait to see how Luke gets on in the U.S. and we are going to track his NJCAA journey.
