Soccer Assist athlete Nencho Margaritha has committed to NCAA Division II Carson Newman University. During the spring semester, Nencho successfully transferred from Jamestown University where he was playing in the NAIA conference to Carson Newman University to compete in the NCAA Division II. Born in the Netherlands, Nencho has an impressive soccer resume playing for an elite Dutch football academy, Forum Sport from U15s through to U19s league.

Nencho committed to the University of Jamestown in August 2016. During his Freshman year, he was the leading goalscorer with 9 goals and also led the team with 5 assists. In his first season, the forward received various honours such as North Star Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year, North Star Athletic Conference 1st team all-conference, and received an honourable mention in the 2016 NSCAA NAIA Men’s All-Plains Region Teams.

However, Nencho approached Soccer Assist to help him transfer from the NAIA into NCAA for a more challenging soccer experience. Nencho states ‘I wanted to follow this route because I still want to finish my degree and play in a more competitive nature for my last 3 seasons. I have already made friends for life by playing with and against players, so this experience is something that I definitely want to finish.’

Carson Newman Head Coach Stephen Lyons told SA, ‘I have tracked Nencho during his time at University of Jamestown (NAIA). His stats speak for itself and I am happy to have him on board.’

Soccer Assist director, Junior states ‘Nencho reached out to Soccer Assist looking for assistance with transferring. He has been named First Team All-Conference, Newcomer of the year, and Offensive player of the week throughout his time at Jamestown. I’m positive he will continue his great form at Carson Newman.’
