We are delighted to announce that Soccer Assist client Thomas Buckley has secured his place and committed to the Heartland Community College and will be heading out Chicago this fall. Hailing from Essex the former Arsenal academy player will be joining the Heartland Hawks Men’s soccer roster this August.
Thomas tells us that he has been playing soccer from a young age, he had many successful years of youth football, having been involved in elite academies such as Arsenal Football Club. The now 17-year old centre midfielder spent three seasons at Arsenal and has played against opposition such as Barcelona, PSG, Lyon and Levante whilst on tour. However, most recently Thomas has played for Dagenham & Redbridge FC, Brentford FC and Aveley FC in Isthmian League North Division.
With Thomas Buckley joining the Heartland Hawks’ roster this fall, head coach Jonathan Titzel had a lot to say about the young centre midfielder. Titzel states ‘My current guys have the work rate but I need someone that’ll keep possession and create scoring opportunities. Tommy Buckley has the ability to pick out a pass and retain possession well – I will encourage Tommy to get on the ball as much as possible.’
Thomas impressed the Soccer Assist team from the first time we saw him play at a London assessment day in 2016. Since then, the deepline playmaker, with a playing style similar to Cesc Fabregas, has been involved in various showcase matches such as Rebel FC, Soccer Assist x Adidas Hackney tournament in 2017 and Arsenal. Soccer Assist director Junior speaks on Thomas’s move, he states, ‘This will give Tommy another opportunity to get back playing in a professional environment, just like his time at Arsenal.
