We are thrilled to announce that Soccer Assist client Alex Ansell has secured his place and committed to the Northeast Texas College Hailing from Uffculme in Devon, the former Exmouth Town central midfielder will be joining Northeast Men’s soccer roster this fall.
Alex tells us that he has been playing soccer from a young age, he had many successful years of youth football, having been involved in an elite set up for his club. Alex tells SA that he moved Exmouth Town, where he had been playing for the past few seasons as a central midfielder, from Willand Rovers FC. When speaking on his playing style Alex states, ‘I’m a box to box, goal scoring midfielder who loves to get involved in a tackle. I use my height and athletic ability to dominate the midfield and control the play. I have a great passing range and love to switch the play when I can. I anticipate my runs into the box in order to get on to any loose balls while being difficult to be picked up by defenders.’
Northeast Texas men’s soccer head coach, Dean Johnson is thrilled to have Alex on board and playing within NJCAA. Dean told Soccer Assist ‘After watching Alex’s video a few times, I feel he has great potential to do well with the right coaching. You can see he has the ability and will fit in perfectly with the other internationals I have coming in.’ Alex is heading to Texas this August to start his scholarship journey.
Alex attended Soccer Assist’s Birmingham assessment day in May 2017. He instantly made an impact on the pitch – he is comfortable in possession and stays composed on the ball allowing him to create links between play with his teammates. Soccer Assist Director Junior states Alex is a ‘confident player who always looks to get on the ball and make something happen. Northeast Texas will be a good challenge for Alex but I’m sure he will find form. Rivals, Tyler Junior College will be in for a shock’.
